today in class we started taking notes on the rome:

Etruscans-

• Came from north central penninsula 
• they were metal workers; helped build weapons
• cutlery & silverware
• artist: shows history
• architects: very important to build
• foundation myths: 
• virgils aeneid - similar to the odyssey
• romulus & remeulus

Greeks-

many colonies 

• romans took ideas from them

the latins-

• first
• descendants of indoeuropeans (nomads)
• on banks of tiber river 
• was made easy for trading ships that could go to rome 
• port was not good for war
• built on seven hills
• many streams flooded into tiber river 
• the land became marshes - they turned it into a grave yard 
• they turned the swamp into a drainage system (cloaco maxima- largest ancient drain)
